Our Re-Plastering Process

1. Drain the pool and prep the site

We safely drain the pool and remove any loose debris, calcium buildup, or existing plaster.

2. Chipping and surface prep

Old plaster is chipped away down to a solid substrate. We also repair minor cracks and surface imperfections.

3. Bond coating

We apply a bonding agent to ensure the new plaster adheres properly and lasts.

4. Plaster application

Our team applies a smooth, even coat of high-quality plaster by hand, ensuring a uniform, watertight finish.

5. Final curing and refill

After curing, we refill the pool and balance the water chemistry to protect your new surface.

Why Re-Plastering Matters in New England

Harsh winters and seasonal temperature swings take a toll on your pool’s surface. Re-plastering not only refreshes the look but also protects against cracks, leaks, and long-term structural damage caused by freeze-thaw cycles.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pool Re-Plastering

From how long the process takes to how to care for your new finish, we’ve answered the most common questions homeowners ask before re-plastering their pools. If you still have questions, we’re just a call away.

Category 1: Re-Plastering Timeline & Process

How long does pool re-plastering take?

Most residential re-plastering jobs take between 5–7 days, depending on pool size, weather conditions, and any additional repair work needed.

What’s involved in the curing process?

After plastering, the pool is filled immediately and requires constant monitoring for the first 7–10 days. We’ll guide you through brushing, balancing the water, and avoiding heat or chlorine shock during this critical phase.

Do I need to remove my tile or coping?

Not always. If your tile or coping is in good shape and not interfering with the plaster bond, we can work around them. But if they’re failing, we’ll recommend replacing them as part of the process.

Category 2: Surface Life, Maintenance & Repairs

How long does a new plaster surface last?

With proper water chemistry and seasonal maintenance, white plaster lasts 8–12 years. Pebble finishes can last 15–20+ years with minimal surface wear.

Can you fix cracks before plastering?

Yes — we assess and repair surface-level cracks before applying the bond coat and new plaster. For deeper structural cracks, we may recommend beam repair or reinforcement first.

What’s the difference between plaster and pebble finishes?

Plaster offers a smooth, classic look at a lower price point, while mini pebble finishes offer a more durable, textured surface with better resistance to stains and chemical wear — and they last longer, too.
